Alexey Shor was born in Kiev and now lives in New York. His works have been performed by such orchestras as the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Armenian State Symphony Orchestra, Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra, St. Petersburg State Capella Symphony Orchestra, Viva Musica, the George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra, the Slovak Sinfonietta, and many others. His music has been featured at the Malta International Music Festival, “Armenia” Festival in Yerevan, Eurasian Music Games, German Piano Open, the Aldeburgh Festival, Verbier Festival, the Shanghai International Piano Festival, at St Petersburg State Capella, Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center in DC, the “Ateneul Roman” Concert Hall (Bucharest), the Rachmaninov Concert Hall (Moscow Conservatory), Robert-Schumann-Saal (Düsseldorf), the Salle Cortot (Paris), Khachaturian Hall (Yerevan), MCC (Malta), the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and many others. His compositions have been showcased on Fox Business News and the websites of Bloomberg News, the New Yorker, Yahoo and the Huffington Post. Concerts with his music have been streamed on MediciTV and Euronews.

Mr. Shor is the Composer-In-Residence for the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra Academie (Valetta) and Salomé Chamber Orchestra (New York City). In 2017/2018 he is also a composer in residence of the Malta International Piano Festival and Competition, as well as the 11 competitions leading up to it.

Ballet “Chrystal Palace” based on Alexey Shor’s music, with leading stars from the Bolshoi Theater was performed in Valetta on July 21, 2017,
as part of the celebrations of 50 years of the diplomatic relations between Malta and Russia. The Overture to the ballet was performed at the 40th Gramophone Classical Music Awards ceremony in London.

He also holds a Ph.D. in mathematics.
